ElectroCraze 12D-BD v2 – Dual Channel 12A Brushed Motor Controller
Compact dual-channel brushed ESC with 12A continuous (15A peak) per channel, 8–16V input, signal loss protection, integrated 6V BEC and a solder-pad Mix Mode. Suited to RC vehicles, differential-drive robots and combat bots.
Highlights:-
- Dual channel: control two brushed motors independently or mixed
- 12A continuous / 15A peak per channel
- 8V–16V input (2S–4S LiPo)
- Built-in 6V BEC (100 mA max) to power your receiver
- Signal loss protection
- Mix Mode via PCB solder pads, so no transmitter mixing is needed
- Ultra compact: 30.7 × 30.7 × 5.58 mm, 22 g
The ElectroCraze 12D-BD v2 is a compact dual-channel brushed motor controller for RC vehicles, differential-drive robots and combat bots. It handles 12A continuous and 15A peak per channel from an 8–16V (2S–4S LiPo) supply and accepts standard servo (PWM) signals from any RC receiver.
Signal loss protection stops the motors if the RC signal is interrupted, and the integrated 6V BEC powers your receiver without a separate BEC. For robots without transmitter mixing, bridge the Mix Mode solder pads and a single stick drives both motors for forward/reverse and turning. In Normal Mode, each channel is controlled independently through its own servo cable.
Two LED indicators show power and signal status for easy setup and troubleshooting. At only 22 g with pre-attached 20 AWG silicone wires, it fits into tight builds.
Key Features:-
- Dual-channel brushed control: independent or mixed control of two motors
- Current limiting: peak 15A per channel for high-demand bursts
- Signal loss protection: safeguards motors if the RC signal is interrupted
- Mix Mode (PCB pads): built-in drive mixing without transmitter support
- Integrated 6V BEC: powers the receiver without an external BEC
- Small size: compact board, 22 g including wires
Applications:-
• Differential drive robots • RC ground vehicles • Robotic platforms • RC boats & crawlers • Combat robots • Custom robotics projects
LED Indicator Guide:-
| LEDs | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Green solid | Valid power, controller on |
| Blue solid | Valid RC signal received |
| Green solid + Blue blinking | Power OK, no signal received |
| No LED | Controller not powered |
Wiring & Mode Setup:-
Full wiring diagram, Normal Mode / Mix Mode channel tables and transmitter stick layouts are in the datasheet PDF available in the Downloads tab on this page.
Important Usage Notes:-
- Check battery polarity before connecting power. Reversed polarity causes irreversible damage.
- The board gets hot during use. Do not touch it right after running.
- Do not wrap it in insulating material; heat must dissipate freely.
- Keep conductive materials away from the PCB to avoid short circuits.
- In high-vibration builds, secure heavy components (capacitors) with silicone or epoxy.
