ElectroCraze 20D-BD v2 – Dual Channel 20A Brushed Motor Controller
High-power dual-channel bidirectional brushed motor controller with 20A continuous (24A peak) per channel, 12–24V (3S–6S LiPo) input, integrated 6V BEC, 3-way hardware mode switch (Normal / Mix / Mirror) and Invert Mode. Ideal for combat robots, 4WD platforms and high-current ground vehicles.
- Dual channel: independent, mixed or mirrored control of two brushed motors
- 20A continuous / 24A peak per channel with current limiting
- 3-way hardware switch: Normal / Mix / Mirror, no transmitter setup needed
- Invert Mode keeps drive direction consistent after your robot flips
- Built-in 6V BEC (300 mA max) to power your receiver
- Signal loss protection
The ElectroCraze 20D-BD v2 is a high-power dual-channel bidirectional brushed motor controller for demanding RC and robotics applications. It delivers 20A continuous and 24A peak per channel from a 12–24V (3S–6S LiPo) supply and takes standard servo (PWM) signals from any RC receiver.
A 3-way hardware slide switch selects Normal, Mix or Mirror mode without any transmitter configuration. Combined with Invert Mode through a dedicated signal wire, it is well suited to combat robots, 4WD platforms and high-current ground vehicles. Signal loss protection stops the motors if the RC signal is interrupted, and the integrated 6V BEC powers your receiver without a separate BEC.
Key Features:-
- Dual-channel 20A control: independent, mixed or mirrored control of two motors
- 24A peak per channel: handles high-current bursts without tripping
- 3-way hardware switch: Normal / Mix / Mirror mode, no transmitter setup needed
- Invert Mode: keeps drive direction consistent after the robot flips upside down
- Integrated 6V BEC: powers the receiver, no separate BEC required
- Signal loss protection: safeguards motors automatically on RC signal loss
Operating Modes:-
- Normal Mode (switch in the middle): both channels work independently through servo cables 1 and 2. Use transmitter mixing if you need combined control.
- Mix Mode (switch to the left): a single throttle input drives both channels together, ideal for differential-drive robots even without transmitter mixing.
- Mirror Mode (switch to the right): servo cable 1 drives both motors together. Connect only servo cable 1 and reverse the Motor 1 wires so both wheels spin the same way.
- Invert Mode: assign a transmitter toggle switch to servo cable 3 to reverse the outputs after a flip. Works in Normal and Mix modes, not in Mirror mode. Leave servo cable 3 disconnected if you don't need it.
Note: Restart the controller after changing the switch position.
Applications:-
4WD combat robots • Differential drive robots • RC ground vehicles • Heavy robotic platforms • RC boats & crawlers • High-current custom builds
LED Indicator Guide:-
| LEDs | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Green solid | Valid power, controller on |
| Blue solid | Valid RC signal received |
| Red solid | Mix Mode active |
| White solid | Mirror Mode active |
| Green solid + Blue blinking | Power OK, no signal received |
| No dedicated LED | Invert Mode |
Wiring & Mode Setup:-
Full wiring diagram, channel assignment tables and transmitter stick layouts for each mode are in the datasheet PDF available in the Downloads tab on this page.
Important Usage Notes:-
- Check battery polarity before connecting power. Reversed polarity causes irreversible damage.
- Designed for 12V–24V only. Voltages above 24V cause permanent damage, so verify battery voltage before connecting.
- The board gets hot during use. Do not touch it right after running or place it near low-melting-point materials.
- Do not wrap it in insulating material; heat must dissipate to maintain rated continuous current.
- Keep conductive materials away from the PCB to avoid short circuits.
- In high-vibration builds, secure the heavy components (power capacitors) with silicone or epoxy.
- Compatible with 370/520 series and 550/555 series motors for light-duty use only.
